We can’t wait to meet you. We’ll help you make progress at a safe, effective pace. You’ll start one on one with one of our expert Coaches, to make sure you are establishing a sustainable new habit. After that, you can train with one of our Coaches 1 on 1, take Group Training Classes, or opt for a hybrid plan.

If you are looking for a cheap gym membership, we are not it.  But if feeling amazing, having more fun in life, and looking your best is important to you, we offer incredible value. Our service is personalized for you by our friendly, experienced team.  Your investment of time and resources with us will help you discover the joy and power that is your birthright as a human.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We are confident that you will love working out with us as much as we love helping you. Knowing this, we don’t lock you in with long-term contracts. WHAT are classes like?

We make exercise fun. Our gym is a place to play, learn, de-stress, and grow. Each session is engineered to help you make safe, steady improvement.  We do NOT conduct daily macho tests. Over time, that adds up to serious fitness.  Every class includes a warm up, skill work, a Workout of the Day (WOD) scaled to your fitness level, and a cool down.  All that in 60 minutes or less.

We love visitors and welcome experienced CrossFit/Functional Training Athletes to train with us while in Charleston.  The cost for a single drop-in is $25. A two class pass is $40 or $65 for a week of training (up to 5 group classes).  To ensure a positive experience for Discovery’s valued members and a safe visit for drop-in athletes, we require the following:

1) You must be an experienced member of another licensed CrossFit Affiliate or High Quality Functional Training Gym (6 months minimum, proficient in all foundational movements)

2) Registration must be completed Zen Planner.   There you must enroll in the class you wish to attend and sign our waiver.  Make sure to register in advance of your visit.

3) Walk-ins may be turned away & Note: OPEN GYM IS FOR DISCOVERY MEMBERS ONLY. 

4)Click one of the Links Below to Purchase the appropriate Drop In Pass, complete the waiver form and to Register for a WOD with us.

**We reserve the right to turn away any person we think is not experienced enough to safely participate in class.  In addition certain class times may not be available for drop-ins.**

WHAT IS DISCOVERY HEALTH & FITNESS?

Discovery H & F Is Coaching. Our fun, safe, personal and group training helps you be the best version of yourself! The Discovery Program is highly effective and is enjoyed by moms, dads, retirees, military personnel, high school athletes, and everyone in between!

Classes take an hour and include a warm up, movement instruction, and an awesome workout. Everything is scaled to your fitness level, targets the entire body and is geared towards functional fitness. The workouts change every day so you will never get bored!

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS WILL I GET?

We are here to help you enjoy your life to the fullest! We make our workouts challenging, but doable. We train smart to make your life outside the gym better.

The daily workouts will improve your stamina. You’ll gain strength and flexibility. You’ll improve your balance and agility. You’ll gain muscle and lose body fat. However, the benefits aren’t just physical! Regular exercise also improves mood and general well-being.

I’M NERVOUS. AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS?

Don’t worry! Every gym has a different culture. The Discovery community is supportive and welcoming to newcomers. All of our members have experienced what it’s like to be at the beginning of a fitness journey, and are happy to support you and cheer you on whoever you are.

Most importantly, our focus on form means you’ll stay safe. We’ll encourage you, but we won’t push you too far, too fast. With great trainers and thoughtful workout programming, CrossFit is beneficial for just about anyone. All you need is the right attitude and an open mind.

Commit, be accountable, create new habits. The rest will follow.

OK, I’M GAME! HOW DO I START?

The first step is signing up for one of our free consultations. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, learn about your fitness goals, and come up with a personalized plan for you.

The next step is our Kickstart program.  We start you off right with a carefully crafted curriculum of Pone on one coaching, Our expert coaches guide you along at your own pace.

WHAT IS THE KICKSTART PROGRAM?

It’s our special introductory program to prepare you for success training with us. You will learn the new skills, how to use the equipment and basic self care from your own expert coach. It’s a great way to learn the movements, feel confident, and get to know our community before either starting group class or continuing with personal training.

If you’re new to Functional Training, you must at least 6 Kickstart Personal Training Sessions before joining group classes.

WAIT, I HAVE AN INJURY. IS DISCOVERY SAFE FOR ME?

Tell us where it hurts. We’re experienced at making adjustments that allow just about everyone to participate. We’ve helped many clients work around nagging old injuries and rehab themselves back to good function. Just make sure to fully disclose your concerns before class..

WOD…PR…METABOLIC CONDITIONING…WHAT’S WITH ALL THE LINGO?

Don’t worry, we’ll teach you what you need to know. For starters, WOD is an abbreviation for workout of the day.  What that means is we mix things up, so you’ll do something different every day. It keeps you motivated, and you won’t get bored.

ARE ALL CLASSES STRUCTURED?

Yes. This is not your average gym. We aren’t selling gym access, we a providing world class coaching. Every class is led through warmup, mobility, skill training, and the workout of the day (WOD) by an experienced Coach. With proper instruction, you’ll see improvement. You’ll move better, both inside the gym and in your everyday life.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL CLASS?

Classes are 1 hour, including warm up, mobility, WOD (workout of the day) and cool down.

IS THERE AN INITIATION FEE? OR A LONG-TERM CONTRACT?

No and no. Memberships are monthly and billed on the 1st.

Completing the Kickstart is essential to starting at Discovery. After that, all memberships are month to month. We are confident that you will love working out with us and don’t see the need to lock you in with long-term contracts.

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

You won’t find machines, ellipticals, or mirrors at our gym. You will find sandbags, dumbbells, kettlebells, pull up bars, gymnastics rings, barbells, tires, ropes, and medicine balls, among other toys. We’ll teach you how to use them all. Just remember, movements serve the needs of your fitness. Not the other way around. We don’t do lift weights or do calisthenics to be good at weightlifting and calisthenics. We do them to be functional humans.

I’M IN REALLY GREAT SHAPE. CAN I JUST JUMP INTO REGULAR CLASSES?

Not quite yet. We’ll still need you to sign up for the free initial consultation. During that meeting, we will evaluate your level of fitness and make sure you understand the movements. As your safety and long term success is our primary goal, we’ve found this approach to be the most beneficial for everyone.

BUT I’VE BEEN CROSSFITTING FOR DAYS/MONTHS/YEARS. CAN’T I JUST JUMP IN?

Childcare is do-it-yourself here. We have a back patio area where they can play, but it is up to you to supervise your children.
